Construction Project Manager (Contract Role)

Location: Austin, TX

About the Role

I am seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Construction Project Manager to assist with renovations, hospitality buildouts, venue improvements, capital projects, and ongoing development initiatives across multiple hospitality and entertainment properties in Austin.

Projects include boutique hospitality spaces, bars, live music venues, rooftops, restaurants, pools, and experiential event environments. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys fast-paced, creative projects and can balance construction management with design, hospitality, and operational functionality.

This is a contract role with flexible structure depending on project workload and timelines.

Position Overview

The Construction Project Manager will oversee planning, coordination, execution, budgeting, scheduling, and quality control for hospitality, entertainment, hotel, bar, restaurant, and event-space construction projects.

The ideal candidate understands how to execute high-design hospitality projects while maintaining budgets, timelines, organization, and construction quality.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Oversee construction projects from planning through completion
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, architects, engineers, consultants, and city inspectors
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, timelines, and construction sequencing
  • Track and review bids, proposals, invoices, and change orders
  • Conduct regular site walks and quality control inspections
  • Ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget

Hospitality & Venue Buildouts

  • Manage renovations and buildouts of hotel suites, bars, rooftops, live music venues, restaurants, backstage areas, pools, and event spaces
  • Coordinate specialty installations including AV, lighting, staging, millwork, signage, and custom hospitality finishes
  • Assist in operational planning for venue functionality and guest flow

Permitting & Compliance

  • Coordinate permitting, inspections, and code compliance
  • Work closely with city officials, consultants, and inspectors
  • Ensure compliance with ADA, life safety, and hospitality regulations
  • Maintain project documentation and reporting

Budgeting & Cost Control

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking
  • Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost savings
  • Review contractor pay applications and monitor project financials
  • Minimize unnecessary change orders and project delays

Communication & Coordination

  • Provide regular project updates
  • Coordinate across design, operations, and vendor teams
  • Build strong relationships with contractors and vendors
  • Help establish scalable construction systems and processes

Qualifications

  • 3โ€“7 years experience in commercial construction project management
  • Experience with hospitality, restaurant, hotel, nightlife, entertainment, or experiential projects strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of construction scheduling, budgeting, and subcontractor coordination
  • Ability to read plans, construction documents, and shop drawings
  • Experience managing multiple active projects simultaneously
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced startup-style environments
  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Buildertrend, Smartsheet, or similar platforms preferred

Compensation

  • Contract Role
