Job description

Position Summary


As Operations Manager, you will serve as a key leader driving the successful execution of projects while safeguarding financial performance, managing risk, and strengthening client relationships from concept to completion. You will partner closely with the General Superintendent to guide and support the estimation and field teams, promoting accountability, collaboration, and high performance. Reporting directly to the President, you will set strategic project goals and ensure consistent delivery excellence and client satisfaction. You will also champion business development efforts by building and nurturing long-term relationships with clients, consultants, and industry organizations.


This is a unique opportunity to join the senior leadership team of a growing mass timber contractor, where you will help shape the company’s direction, influence its culture, and contribute directly to its continued success while helping to build the future of the organization.


As an Operations Manager your key accountabilities will involve:


  • Overseeing overall company operations, establishing performance standards and KPIs, and driving continuous improvement across project teams.
  • Establishing and continuously improving company-wide operational systems, project controls, financial reporting, and procedures, including the Operations Manual.
  • Overseeing project financial controls, forecasting, invoicing, and reporting while identifying opportunities to improve profitability and support business growth.
  • Partnering with the President on strategic planning, business development, marketing initiatives, client relationships, and strengthening the company’s position within the mass timber industry.
  • Leading contract reviews, client negotiations, change management, and risk mitigation to protect the company’s interests and support successful project outcomes.
  • Conducting regular site visits and working with field leadership to monitor quality, project execution, operational consistency, and adherence to company standards.
  • Providing regular operational and financial reporting to the President and representing the company at client meetings, industry events, committees, and professional forums.
  • Leading, coaching, and developing Project Managers, Coordinators, and Administrators through performance management, career planning, succession planning, and professional development.
  • Collaborating with the General Superintendent, HR, and executive leadership on workforce planning, recruitment, staffing, performance management, and employee development.
  • Championing a positive, inclusive, safety-focused, and high-performance culture built on professionalism, accountability, and continuous learning.

As an Operations Manager your experience and qualifications will include: 


  • 10+ years of construction management experience, ideally with a general contractor, or a larger subcontractor, or supplier.
  • Demonstrated experience in mass timber construction, fabrication, or a closely related construction environment.
  • Previous experience managing and developing Project Managers and project teams.
  • Post-secondary industry education in construction is an asset.
  • Comprehensive computer and technical skills such as Microsoft Office applications, Project Management software, accounting software etc.
  • Ability to complete financial reporting, weekly progress reports, monthly cost and profit reporting.
  • Experience working on and independently leading multiple projects with $1-25+ million-dollar budgets.
  • Executive-level written and verbal communication skills and leadership abilities.
