Job description

The Mechanical/Design Engineer will design and develop new product, and technologies, as well as develop manufacturing packages. The role includes research and development activities, industrialization of product, and technical support. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   

  • Develop product designs using solid modeling and CAD software.
  • Performs design calculations.
  • Prepare equipment or material specifications.
  • Research, design, evaluate and manufacture mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet requirements.
  • Effective use of statistical methods, design of experiments and systematic problem-solving techniques.
  • Organize technical data, write technical reports, and provide analysis including recommendations.
  • Conduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components, systems, and processes.
  • Take on lead roles in the mechanical design of various simultaneous projects, as well as be involved with the entire product design and validation process. This will include assignments as project manager.
  • Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations.
  • Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications, and necessity of modification.
  • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
  • Maintain proper documentation in accordance with general manufacturing standards customer specification and Click Bond, Inc. policies.
  • Read and interpret customer and industry specifications.
  • Develop documents which drive the manufacturing process: drawings, models, assemblies, etc.
  • Support all company facilities in design, analysis, and testing as it relates to existing product lines or the development of new derivative products.
  • Take on lead roles in the mechanical design of various simultaneous projects, as well as be involved with the entire product design and validation process.
  • Design 3D parts and complex assemblies using CAD, define part material selections, and create appropriate dimensional drawings including GD&T.
  • Develop finite element simulations for a variety of mechanical systems, as well as use finite element as an effective design tool.
  • Design and develop manufacturing methods, tooling, and processes.
  • Report immediately all suspicious and hazardous conditions to a supervisor. 
  • Understand and observe all safety guidelines and assure quality and safety by complying with all   appropriate CB policies and procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining clean, orderly, and hazard-free work areas. 
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, be a self-starter and be detail oriented. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Effective use of statistical methods, design of experiments and systematic problem-solving techniques
  • Ability to work independently on high priority projects, manage project goals, and meet project deliverables on time.
  • Create professional presentations and be able to present work both internally and to customers effectively.
  • Manage as well as lead several projects simultaneously in a multi-disciplined working environment.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry, and QMS environment.
  • Understanding of the design process for both existing and derivative products.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes used in aerospace and the fastener industry.
  • Understanding of the standards related to the aerospace and fastener industry.
  • Generate presentations, and present work in a professional manner.
  • Ability to write and read English

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering 
  • 3-5 years prior experience in a related field, industry or work environment is required 
  • Knowledge of FEA as it pertains to non-linear solid mechanics
  • Experience with design of experiments, applied statistics and systematic problem-solving techniques (Green-Belt preferred)
  • Proficient in 3D CAD modeling (Solidworks preferred)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook or similar programs.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, test plans, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
REASONING ABILITY:
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
