Design Project Manager (DPM) provides overall management of one or more specific engineering & design efforts to ensure that the client receives a project designed and engineered within the scope of the contract(s) to meet their needs on time and within budget. Also, coordinates directly with project management, construction leadership team, either Austin's or others', to ensure constructability and support of construction operations. The DPM is responsible for the successful delivery of the engineering scope of work on a project, within the terms of the contract, on time, on budget and in service to the client and the business objectives of the project. Also, at times, acts as the liaison between the client and Austin. On engineering only projects will function as the primary leader of the project, on design-build projects will function as the primary leader of the engineering effort, typically working under a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager.

Begins to work independently performing a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard project management techniques for a small project or selected segments of a larger project. The incumbent must be capable of exercising independent judgment in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard project management techniques, procedures, and criteria focusing on Scope, Schedule, and Budget. Assignments have clear and specific objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables.
