Job description

LABORATORY TECHNICIAN 
The University of Alabama at Birmingham

Key Duties & Responsibilities: 
1.    Design and carry out molecular genetics experiments. 
2.    Design and carry out lifespan studies and genetic crosses. 
3.    Manage the Riddle lab's Drosophila stock collection. 
4.    Coordinate and supervise the training of undergraduate students.
5.    Performs other duties as assigned.

Hourly Pay Range: $15.00 - $22.75

Minimum Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent required.

Preferred:
    Bachelor's degree in biology or a related field. 
    Demonstrated knowledge of molecular genetics and genetics 
    Ability to read and summarize primary research literature in related fields required. 
    Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in sample collection and recordkeeping.
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
    Ability to work independently and under supervision. 
    Familiarity with safe laboratory practices. 
    At least 1 year of experience in laboratory research.
