Howden, a Chart Industries Company, is a global engineering business with a focus on providing clients with industrial products that help multiple sectors improve their everyday processes. Howden’s core focus is on providing quality solutions for air and gas handling and has over a century of experience in doing so.

What Will You Do?

•    Put your mechanical design skills and experience to work as part of the team to perform a wide variety of complex layouts, system designs, and detailed modeling/drafting duties directly driving the development and production of industrial pressure and vacuum systems for use in industrial air and gas handling applications.
•    Interpret customer drawings and specifications and design products within the capabilities of the company and its manufacturing processes.
•    Work independently to design new structurally sound components, or work from sketches, specifications, layouts, blueprints, or engineering sheets, along with other information to make all required design, layout and detail drawings.  
•    Specify and provide tolerances, finishes, details, parts, calculations, dimensions and other data utilizing the company’s integrated computer software systems.
•    Prepare manufacturing and procurement bills-of-material and specifications lists through drawings and the company’s ERP system.
•    Work may involve design or redesigning to meet customer requirements, improve performance or reduce costs.
•    Aid other departments in interpreting drawings, designs, specifications, and resolving questions or problems.  
•    Participate in engineering projects, studies and submit required reports to supervision.
•    Perform DFMA on newly designed systems and updating older designs to modern standards.

Your Experience Should Be...

Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline preferred, or Drafting Certificate with equivalent product design work experience.
•    Minimum 5 years’ Solid Modeling experience (Autodesk Inventor preferred) and related database software (Autodesk Vault Professional preferred). 
•    Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing ASME Y14.5.
•    Must be able to interpret customer and/or vendor prints, specifications, provide design layout drawings, create manufacturing drawings, and detail existing drawings.
•    Knowledge of drafting standards and Global Engineering Standards.
•    Sheet metal design/detailing experience preferred.
•    Machined parts design/detailing. 
•    Knowledge of welding process and welding symbols.
•    Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
•    Work experience within an engineered product / manufacturing environment preferred.
