A Design Engineer specializes in the planning, organization, and development of engineering activities for the construction and maintenance of facilities, such as roads, railroads, bridges, and water systems. This individual is responsible for planning and conducting work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, and is also responsible for devising new approaches to problems and preparing or modifying drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs, and monitoring work for compliance to applicable codes, and accepted engineering practices.
REQUIREMENTS
  • KNOWLEDGE: Learns to use professional concepts. Applies company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues.
  • JOB COMPLEXITY: Exercises good judgment in following standard techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related design tasks. Contact with others is primarily internal.
  • SUPERVISION: Normally receives detailed instructions on all work.
  • EXPERIENCE: Typically requires no previous professional experience. Bachelor's degree in engineering is required. EIT certificate is preferred. CADD experience is required.
