Job Description:

  • Modification of standard seals to suit non-standard equipment
  • Using standard seal face geometry design for new machinery applications / equipment
  • Bespoke seal design using standard seal face geometry for non-standard applications & equipment.
  • On an "as needed" basis working with the senior design engineers to create bespoke seal face geometry / design ideas.
  • Design of special test equipment to suit specific applications
  • Creation of new SAP material codes and BOM's to aid SAP administration, as required
  • Liaison with internal and external customers (including end users, sales engineers, and distributors) via telephone, email and other communication channels to support their needs.
  • Liaison with seal assembly workshop and manufacturing inspection departments on engineering issues for both standard and special seals; solving problems and agreeing concessions as per ISO procedures.
  • Providing assistance to the seal assembly team on testing issues for standard and special seals
  • Providing assistance to the application engineering team on seal enquiries/dimensional fit
  • Development and implementation of design department procedures
  • Reacting to breakdown situations providing design technical support (if required) to ensure the problem is resolved as quickly as possible.
  • Develop an understanding of seal failure analysis and how seal design affects performance "on-site" at the customer.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read and interpret detailed drawings
