Job description

SUMMARY: Design Engineers develop, design, and improve new and existing company products and systems. Individuals in this position work from customer order requirements, specifications, and engineering standards to develop final design solutions utilizing CAD software and engineering calculations as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design company products using SolidWorks or other engineering software
  • Create engineering drawings for use in proposals and manufacturing
  • Create bills of material and routings for use in cost estimates and manufacturing
  • Create owner’s manuals, test procedures, and other engineering deliverables as required
  • Perform engineering computations for sizing equipment components
  • Provide technical support to shop personnel during manufacturing
  • Provide field support of company products as required
  • Perform Lead Engineer role for assigned sales orders including customer interaction, vendor communication, and project management as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proficient with SolidWorks CAD software
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Ability to perform fundamental engineering calculations utilizing software applications and/or manual methods
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, sales, manufacturing, and production personnel to meet customer requirements
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrates initiative, professionalism, and a solutions-oriented mindset
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related field with a minimum of one (1) year of related experience, or Associate degree in an engineering-related field with four (4) or more years of related experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Proficient in algebra and geometry as required to solve engineering problems.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
  • Competence with 2D/3D CAD software; SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • This role has no direct reporting responsibilities
  • Able to provide basic technical leadership in guiding cross functional peers through portions of the product development process
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. Employees spend some time on shop floor. Most of the time will be spent sitting at a computer workstation and using a telephone.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Most of the time, the work environment is a pleasant, temperature-controlled office environment within a manufacturing setting. The employees’ workstation may be located on the second floor. While primarily office-based, the employee will have frequent interaction with shop floor personnel.
Occasional travel to customer facilities may be required to review applications and support the installation, start-up, and commissioning of company products. In these environments, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and varying noise levels.
Employees are required to comply with all company safety policies and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the work environment.
