Job description

Entry-Level Mechanical Design Engineer | CAD | Engineered Products

A growing engineering and manufacturing company is looking for a Design Engineer to join their Vermont engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate or early-career engineer who wants to build a career in mechanical design, CAD modelling, and engineered product development.

The company designs and manufactures highly engineered components and systems used across demanding industrial applications. You will work alongside experienced engineers and gain exposure to the complete design process, from customer requirements through to final production.

The Role of Design Engineer

The Design Engineer will support the development of custom-engineered products by creating 3D models, engineering drawings, assemblies, and manufacturing documentation.

Working closely with experienced engineers, manufacturing teams, and other departments, you will help develop practical designs that meet customer requirements and manufacturing standards.

Key Responsibilities of Design Engineer

  • Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings.
  • Develop mechanical assemblies and component designs.
  • Assist with engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and technical documentation.
  • Support design reviews and product improvements.
  • Work with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.
  • Assist with troubleshooting drawing, assembly, and production-related issues.
  • Learn and apply engineering standards, processes, and design practices.
  • Manage multiple engineering projects and priorities.

Candidate Profile of Design Engineer

This role is ideal for someone who is technically curious, motivated to learn, and looking to develop within mechanical design engineering.

Suitable candidates may include:

  • Recent Mechanical Engineering graduates.
  • Engineering graduates with internship, co-op, or academic project experience.
  • Early-career engineers looking to move into a CAD/design-focused position.

Candidates do not need prior experience within the industry. Full training and development will be provided.

Relevant experience or coursework includes:

  • Mechanical design projects.
  • CAD modelling.
  • Engineering drawings.
  • Mechanical assemblies.
  • Manufacturing processes.
  • Product development.

Qualifications of Design Engineer

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline preferred.
  • Experience using CAD software through education, projects, internships, or professional work.
  • AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar CAD experience preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new technical concepts.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career engineer.
  • Work alongside experienced engineering professionals.
  • Develop expertise designing complex engineered products.
  • Gain exposure to design, manufacturing, and product development.
  • Join a growing organisation supporting customers globally.
