The QISG team brings together Engineering, Safety, Quality, Material Procurement, QA/QC, Right-of-Way Acquisition, Scheduling, Environmental Planning, Permitting, Title and Land Management expertise that ensure outstanding results for our clients.


DSI, Dynamic System a Quanta company, is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and engineering of HVAC plumbing, and piping systems across new construction, design-build, and renovation projects. Acts as the senior technical resource on assigned projects, guiding design decisions from concept through construction administration, fabrication, and commissioning. Mentors less experienced engineers on the team.


  • Develop conceptual and detailed system designs for assigned projects, from early concept through final construction documents
  • Represent engineering at project design coordination meetings as the senior technical lead
  • Produce advanced preliminary design layouts and redlines to support estimating and proposal efforts
  • Perform advanced engineering calculations, including heating/cooling load analysis, equipment sizing and selection, friction loss, and hydraulic calculations
  • Coordinate with fabrication shop (“design for fabrication”) to incorporate modular concepts into the design
  • Conduct site visits and field inspections to verify compliance with construction documents and resolve design issues that arise during construction
  • Provide technical oversight and mentorship to less-experienced engineers and designers on HVAC, plumbing, and piping system design and documentation
  • Support proposal development and budgetary/technical scoping for pursuits

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • 8+ years of mechanical design experience, including experience leading design efforts
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and piping, plus a solid understanding of overall building system operations
  • Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical and plumbing construction documents
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of staff, clients, and general contractors
  • Strong presentation and public-speaking skills
  • Proficiency with CAD/BIM tools and Microsoft Office (including Excel)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Design-build or mechanical contractor project delivery experience
  • Experience with Revit MEP and BIM coordination workflows
  • LEED or CEM credential
