Job description

Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description

Join our dynamic team as a Mechanical Design Engineer, where you will play a crucial role in the design and development of material handling and processing systems for the tire, rubber, and various other industries. Your primary objective will be to ensure that all engineering projects are completed according to customer specifications and timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate projects of high complexity under minimal supervision, potentially working as a Lead Engineer or in collaboration with a Engineer.
  • Communicate effectively with personnel at all levels, internally and externally, to meet project demands.
  • Ensure design meets customer expectations and project remains within budget.
  • Create and maintain project schedules utilizing Smartsheet and conduct Project Phase Reviews.
  • Obtain customer approval of designs and resolve problems as they arise.
  • Understand when a Change Order is required and complete Change Order designs.
  • Develop and maintain electronic documentation related to manufacturing packages, including Bill of Material, component requisitions, and Equipment List.
  • Utilize AutoCAD or equivalent software for design requirements, preparing various types of drawings such as System Layout, Equipment Approval Drawings, General Arrangement or Sales Drawings, and Installation Drawings.
  • Gather information needed to prepare detailed drawings and manage projects to achieve objectives in manufacturing, quality, and engineering.
  • Travel to customer sites as needed to gather project-related information and provide installation support.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to interpret and visualize projects and apply engineering science and technology.
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical design techniques and tools.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Solidworks, Inventor, or similar 3D modeling software.
  • Experience in equipment, automation, and material handling design.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and self-management skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (open to candidates without a degree if they possess technical experience).
  • 1-4+ years of experience in equipment/automation/material handling design, including internships or co-ops.
  • Technical hands-on attitude.
  • Mechanical engineering experience with AutoCAD in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.

This position is based in a relaxed office environment located in Fredericktown, OH, with minimal travel required.
