The Role
As a Design Build Manager, you'll serve as the design build Project Manager to lead for complex building design projects that follow the Design Build method of project delivery -managing the full project lifecycle from preliminary design through construction completion. You will work closely with our Design Build Contractor partner 'll overseeing budgets, schedules, QA/QC, coordination, stakeholder engagement, and staff mentorship, ensuring design, etc. meet project requirements. This position is located in our Empire State Building, New York, New Yorklocation.
What You'll Do

  • Full project lifecycle oversight: Lead projects from preliminary engineering through final design, construction documentation, and construction support.

  • Complex technical coordination: Manage interdisciplinary teams covering architectural, MEP and structural design, and coordination.

  • Budget & schedule control: Maintain overall accountability for budget, schedule, scope, and quality on multiple concurrent projects.

  • Public involvement & stakeholder engagement: Lead public outreach efforts and serve as primary liaison with agencies, municipalities, and utilities.

  • Construction engineering support: Oversee shop drawing reviews, construction schedule monitoring, and change order plan development.

  • Business development: Lead RFP responses and cultivate long-term client relationships.

  • Mentorship & leadership: Develop junior staff, foster technical innovation, and contribute to agency leadership.


What You Bring

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering (any of the disciplines) or Architecture. Master's degree preferred.

  • Licensure: Active New York Professional Engineer or Registered Architect.

  • Experience: 20+ years in design, including managing projects from preliminary engineering through construction within the past 15 years.

  • Project Management: Proven track record of managing projects with $50MM in fee+.

  • Technical proficiency: MicroStation with InRoads/OpenRoads; 3D corridor modeling; BIM; deep familiarity with NJDOT standards and manuals.

  • Leadership skills: Proven track record in budget/schedule control, technical coordination, communication, negotiation, and project oversight.

Compensation Range:

$204,645.30 - $233,880.34
