Job description

Transportation Project Manager (Roadway & Highway) — Boston, MA

A well-established, nationally recognized civil engineering consultancy is growing its Boston transportation practice and is looking for a Project Manager to help lead that growth.

This is a seller/doer role for an experienced PM who wants real ownership — running projects and helping win the next ones — on a team with a strong MassDOT and municipal client base and a genuine leadership track ahead of it.

What you'll do

  • Lead transportation projects from scope through delivery — roadway, highway, and bridge work, including MassDOT design-build and Complete Streets / corridor assignments across MA and New England
  • Own project financials, schedule, and resourcing; build and execute work plans and keep budgets on track
  • Manage and mentor multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with subconsultants
  • Champion client relationships (MassDOT and local agencies), represent the firm at industry events, and help identify and lead new pursuits
  • Contribute to proposals and to the wider regional growth strategy

What you'll bring

  • 10+ years of transportation/civil design experience, including managing projects
  • Direct MassDOT project experience and a track record of hitting design budgets and schedules
  • A seller/doer mentality with excellent client-relationship and communication skills
  • BSCE (or related) and an active Massachusetts PE license (required)

What's on offer

  • $135,000–$170,000 base, plus overtime and bonuses
  • Up to 9% retirement contribution
  • Generous PTO and parental leave
  • Hybrid schedule, based out of the Boston office
  • A clear path toward senior leadership in a practice that's actively expanding
