Job description

Garland Dermatology Specialty Clinic Float RN

The Garland Dermatology Specialty Clinic Float RN is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based specialty care to patients and serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team to promote quality, safe, and patient-centered care. The RN provides patient care, care coordination, health promotion, health education, and coaching on wellness, disease prevention, and chronic care management. This position serves as a member of the Garland Specialty Care Float Pool and provides nursing support across specialty care outpatient clinics based on patient care and staffing needs.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible and accountable for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.
  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care using the nursing process and administers medications and procedures in accordance with established policies and guidelines.
  • Provides patient care, care coordination, health promotion, health education, and coaching on wellness, disease prevention, and chronic care management.
  • Collaborates with members of the interdisciplinary team to influence care outcomes and ensure achievement of the plan of care.
  • Assists in directing nursing education, orientation, competencies, quality improvement activities, and outcomes utilization, as appropriate to the clinic setting.
  • Partners with patients, families, caregivers, and the interdisciplinary team to promote effective and safe transitions across the health care continuum, including the Veteran's goals of care.
  • Provides oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants, as appropriate to the clinic setting, and delegates elements of care based on assessed patient needs, condition, and safety.
  • Evaluates practice based on best evidence and participates in activities and strategies that support an evidence-based practice culture and performance improvement activities.
  • Supports a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of health care professionals through knowledge sharing, mentoring, coaching, and constructive feedback.
  • Demonstrates leadership, critical thinking, sound clinical judgment, and effective communication in managing patient care and competing priorities within the specialty care setting.
  • Provides specialty care nursing support across multiple outpatient specialty clinics to ensure continuity of care, support staffing coverage, and meet patient care needs in areas requiring additional nursing resources.
