Job Type: Administrator & Coach
Job Title: Deputy Program Director
Team: PPA Plus
About PPA: The Player Progression Academy is a multi-sport youth academy serving the NW DC/Bethesda corridor. Our Plus division spans Tots (ages 25) and Afterschool soccer and basketball programs - bringing structured, coach-led youth sports to kids at their earliest introduction to the game. With an expansive community of over 3000 players, a dedicated team of over 100 coaches, and an office staff of 20 individuals, PPA is committed to fostering player development both inside and outside of the lines.

The Role:
We're looking for a hands-on, self-directed Deputy Director to help run and grow our Plus programs. This is a hybrid role: you'll spend meaningful time on the field coaching, and the rest driving program operations, logistics, and development from behind the scenes. This role is ideal for someone with a genuine passion for youth sports and coaching, who is also eager to build a career in business development, strategy, and program management.
Key Responsibilities
On the Field
  • Coach Afterschool soccer and/or basketball clinics (minimum 5 hrs/week, MonFri)
  • Coach Tots (ages 25) soccer and/or basketball (minimum 8 hrs/week, weekends)
Off the Field
  • Help design, build, and refine programming for Afterschool and Tots
  • Support program operations end-to-end scheduling, logistics, participant experience
  • Contribute to business development: identifying growth opportunities, supporting strategic planning
  • Create marketing materials using Canva or similar tools
What We're Looking For:
  • Passion for youth sports, coaching, and sports program development
  • Prior coaching experience required (either soccer or basketball, preferably both)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for analysis, reporting, budgeting and planning
  • Familiarity with AI tools for productivity, research, and content creation
  • Experience with Canva or other design platforms for marketing materials
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Interest in business development, strategy, and program management
  • Must be able to independently identify needs, prioritize opportunities, and follow through with high degree of autonomy
Growth & Development Opportunities
This is a unique opportunity to blend hands-on coaching with strategic business experience. This role is designed for candidates who are motivated to grow into leadership positions within sports programming, business strategy, and operations.
Work Schedule & Location:

  • Full time 40hrs/week
    • Split between on field coaching (~15hr/week) & administrative work (~25hr/week)
    • Must be open to coaching on weekends
  • Hybrid role
    • Remote first administrative work w/ in person requirement for coaching and occasional meetings in office
    • Office located in Bethesda, MD
Compensation:
Salary Range: $40,000 - $50,000 based on experience. Bonus opportunity.
*Opportunity to earn additional income by picking up coaching within PPA's Development Programs, Premier Programs, or summer camps

Benefits:
  • 4% 401(k) match
  • Healthcare reimbursement stipend
  • Flexible working hours
  • Remote work w/ in person option
  • Professional development reimbursement program

Flexible work from home options available.
