Job description

Job Title: Deputy Data Director

Salary: Up to $6,500 per month
Position Summary:
The National Domestic Workers Alliance and Care in Action are seeking an experienced and innovative Deputy Data Director to support our 2026 programmatic and infrastructure work. In this role, the Deputy Data Director is instrumental in helping to build power of our workers, members and in communities of color by staying on top of analytics best practices and deepening a culture of data-driven organizing to help build a strong movement to advance the domestic worker movement. Reporting to the Senior Data and Analytics Director, the staffer will collaborate with our teams to support the use and application of our organizing platforms, and leverage CRM and voter file data to develop our strategy across c3, c4 and PAC work. This is a temporary, limited duration, full-time role that will run from immediately to 12/31/2026.
Primary Roles & Responsibilities:
I. Main Priority (70% of FTE)
  • Project Management: Support the Senior Data and Analytics Director, data, digital and field teams in implementing NDWA and CiA's organizational and programmatic goals. Includes developing MOCHAs, updating project management systems such as AirTable or Asana, and supporting staff to satisfy project needs and meet mutually agreed upon deadlines. Scope out timelines for major milestones and adjust workplans as necessary to achieve goals.
  • Direct Voter Contact Strategy: Under the direction of the Senior Data and Analytics Director, lead field strategy, including data analysis and coordination efforts. Provide strategic, data-driven recommendations to staff and partners on campaign field strategy and targeting. Responsible for building and maintaining direct voter contact universes for field, mail and digital programs. Create SQL queries and commit voter contact universe criteria to GitHub. Advise staff on how to communicate with voters based on program phase and tactics. Anchor program strategy in data-driven best practices based on research and guidance from industry leading organizations such as the Analyst Institute. Experiment with the best way to contact underrepresented groups.
  • Voter File Management and Maintenance: Assist the IT department in managing voter file access for digital and field teams, partner organizations and consultants. Advise on training needs for end-users, and provide technical assistance as needed. Review and monitor voter file resources provided by our vendors TMC and TargetSmart, and America Votes partners. Ensure all data markers are accurate, up to date and utilized by field and digital teams.
  • EveryAction Management and Maintenance: Lead the cross function team to overhaul the EveryAction data management workflows. Ensure that the new improved database structure matches the complexity and compliance requirements for multi-entity organizations like NDWA and Care in Action. Encourage the adoption of data practice. Ensure all data markers are accurate, up to date
  • Champion best practices: Seek out and attend conferences, briefings and presentations hosted by industry leaders and bring learnings back to the team and organization. Memorialize key documents in the shared drive system, including data dictionaries, model release notes, partner analysis
  • Manage JIRA ticketing system: Create and edit request types, and oversee the revamp of descriptions and required reporting fields. Assign tickets to appropriate staffers and consultants based on entity and scope of work. Set clear timelines for updating tickets and completing requests. Answer and troubleshoot technical questions from users ( about our tools, products and datasets, via a customer support queue in Jira.
    • In partnership with Organizing teams, establish and maintain best practices for data collection. Assist adoption of data systems and best practices within the organizing team

II. 2nd Priority (20% of FTE)
  • Reporting: Help facilitate the development of our necessary reporting. Work collaboratively across the organization and department to determine necessary reporting infrastructure. Provide feedback on reporting dashboards, review code, and offer advice on iterating for future reports. Help test report functionality and troubleshoot issues. Research best practices for reporting and share with the team and across the organization.
  • Shared Drive Management: Ensure all relevant documentation of tech and data products and processes is up to date and preserved in our shared drive. Create new content as necessary.
  • Data Management: Provide Data Management and other support as necessary. Includes advising on activist code and survey question structure, automations, and committee structure. Partner with the Sr. Data Director, Sr. Digital Director, and data and digital organizing teams to annually audit platforms to ensure they are configured correctly for data collection.
  • Coalition support and service: Work with staff and partner groups to ensure that political and voter contact programs are maximizing shared voter file, targeting, and other data resources. Responsible for coalition alignment on data and targeting, which may include participating in various work groups or other meetings. Responsible for sharing data and tactic best practices during coalition meetings.
  • Field Team Support: Build collaborative relationships with state teams, troubleshooting voter file issues, and responding to and advocating for organizer needs. Develop our data collection and maintenance strategy related to our organizing programs and tools. In consultation with the field team, design an organizing journey for new contacts that compliantly weaves between c3 and c4 programming while reducing the manual maintenance burden on data and field staff. Work in partnership with the field team to support organizing platform adoption and data informed best practices.

IV. NDWA Responsibilities (10% of FTE)
  • Participate in staff meetings, staff study and retreats.
  • Lead strategy development and coordinate implementation, ensure that the team completes work plans, communicate with teams about larger strategic/organizational issues and represent your teams in same discussions, and participate in fundraising and budget development.
  • Assist the Sr. Data Director, as needed, with contract reviews and renewals, and developing scopes of work. Help identify new organizing platforms the organization wants to onboard and assist with sunsetting platforms.
  • Complete work plans and reports in a timely manner.
  • Develop and satisfy a Professional Development Plan.
  • This position requires the ability to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, as needed to meet organizational needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
