Litigation Career Associate Attorney

Direct Counsel is seeking a Litigation Career Associate Attorney to join a prestigious Am Law firm in New York City.

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with 7+ years of complex civil litigation experience to join a highly regarded Litigation practice. This is a long-term, non-partnership-track Career Associate position designed for attorneys seeking sophisticated litigation work, meaningful client engagement, and a sustainable work-life balance while continuing to build their legal careers.

Responsibilities
  • Support all phases of complex civil litigation matters from inception through resolution.

  • Conduct sophisticated legal research and analysis.

  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, responses, and other litigation documents.

  • Manage discovery, including document review, e-discovery, and production.

  • Assist with deposition preparation, witness preparation, and trial preparation.

  • Coordinate case strategy and litigation workflow while managing multiple matters simultaneously.

  • Collaborate closely with litigation teams to deliver practical, high-quality legal solutions.

  • Maintain strong organization and attention to detail while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

  • Active membership in good standing with the applicable state bar.

  • 7+ years of complex civil litigation experience.

  • Strong legal research, analytical, and drafting skills.

  • Experience drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery documents, and other substantive litigation filings.

  • Experience managing discovery, including e-discovery.

  • Strong case management and project management skills.

  • Experience supporting depositions and trial preparation.

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

  • Strong academic credentials.

  • Writing sample required.
