A well-established nonprofit legal aid organization is seeking early-career attorneys to represent clients in consumer advocacy matters while developing practical litigation skills through courtroom appearances, motion practice, and mentorship from experienced attorneys.


This is an exceptional opportunity for newly admitted attorneys and attorneys early in their careers to gain hands-on litigation experience, work directly with clients, and build a long-term career in public interest law.

Position Overview

This full-time position begins as a four-month engagement (35 hours per week) with a strong opportunity to transition into a permanent Staff Attorney role.

Responsibilities

Attorneys in this role will:

  • Interview and advise clients
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents
  • Conduct legal research
  • Prepare cases for hearings and court appearances
  • Advocate for clients in court
  • Collaborate with supervising attorneys to develop litigation strategies and provide high-quality legal representation


Qualifications

We are seeking attorneys who:

  • Are admitted to practice law in the State of New Jersey
  • Have strong written and oral advocacy skills
  • Want meaningful courtroom and litigation experience
  • Enjoy working directly with clients
  • Have an interest in consumer advocacy, litigation, or public interest law


Prior legal services or nonprofit experience is helpful but not required. Comprehensive training and ongoing mentorship are provided.


Compensation & Growth Opportunity

This temporary engagement pays the equivalent of approximately $70,000–$79,000 annually, depending on experience.
