The Opportunity
Are you an operations executive who enjoys bringing clarity to complexity, driving enterprise initiatives, and serving as a trusted partner to senior leadership?

Lafayette Federal Credit Union (LFCU) is seeking a Deputy Chief Operating Officer (Deputy COO) to partner closely with the Chief Operating Officer and help lead enterprise-wide operational initiatives across the organization. This is a highly visible leadership opportunity for an executive who enjoys bringing clarity to complex challenges, driving enterprise initiatives, and transforming strategy into execution.

As a strategic partner to the COO, you will help manage priorities, reduce operational burden, and coordinate initiatives that span lending, branch operations, deposit operations, technology, facilities, regulatory readiness, and other key operational functions. You will work across the executive team to keep priorities aligned, remove roadblocks, and ensure meaningful initiatives move from concept to completion.

The successful candidate will be a collaborative leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, builds strong relationships across the organization, and is comfortable influencing without direct authority. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while supporting the continued growth and success of a well-established financial institution.

LFCU offers a hybrid work environment, with an expectation of working onsite two to three days each week initially to build strong executive and cross-functional relationships.

What You Will Do

As Deputy COO, you will serve as a strategic business partner to the COO by:

  • Drive enterprise-wide strategic and operational initiatives that improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Coordinate cross-functional projects involving lending, loan servicing, branch operations, deposit operations, information technology, facilities, and other operational areas.
  • Lead process improvement and operational excellence initiatives that strengthen organizational effectiveness.
  • Track enterprise projects, risks, milestones, and executive commitments to ensure timely execution.
  • Strengthen governance by supporting regulatory examinations, audit follow-up activities, and enterprise documentation.
  • Help build scalable processes and operational infrastructure that support continued organizational growth.
What We Are Looking For

Leadership

  • Proven ability to influence, collaborate, and build consensus across multiple business units.
  • Executive presence with the confidence to challenge assumptions respectfully and constructively.
  • Diplomatic communicator who builds credibility and trust through direct and concise engagement.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong bias for action, execution, and solving complex operational challenges.
  • Extensive experience in operational project management, strategic execution, and continuous process improvement.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity while helping build processes, infrastructure, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, growing organization with multiple priorities and competing demands

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Management, or related field required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • Eight to 12 years of progressive leadership experience within a credit union, bank, or other financial institution.
  • Experience supporting or partnering with executive leadership on enterprise initiatives.

Working knowledge of:

  • Consumer lending
  • Loan servicing
  • Deposit operations
  • Branch operations
  • Information technology
  • Facilities management
  • Enterprise project management
  • Regulatory examinations
  • Internal audit coordination
  • Enterprise strategic initiatives

Compensation: The starting salary range for this position is $170,000 to $220,000 annually.
