Through our Global Health Advocacy Incubator, we tackle other critical public health challenges across the globe – including food and nutrition policy, injury and overdose prevention, and building resilient and equitable health systems.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

The Global Health Advocacy Incubator’s (GHAI) Overdose Prevention Initiative is dedicated to expanding access to affordable, evidence-based addiction treatment and overdose prevention strategies through federal policy change and public awareness. The Overdose Prevention Initiative is committed to identifying federal solutions that make it easier for people with substance use disorders to stay safe, find treatment, and succeed in recovery. By advancing federal policies that address the disparities, barriers, and stigma in the addiction treatment system, we can make a difference in the lives of people across the U.S. and prevent needless deaths.

The Operations Associate provides clerical and administrative support for the GHAI Overdose Prevention Initiative. The Associate/Coordinator is responsible for three key areas of support: 1) processing and tracking invoices, vendor payments, contract and expense reporting; 2) organizing logistics for in-state and D.C. based meetings and events which includes making travel arrangements, securing travel visas and managing invitations; 3) managing the schedule for the AVP of Overdose Prevention.

This full-time position is based in Washington, D.C. and will report to the Associate Vice President of Overdose Prevention.


WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH:

  • Timely and accurate processing and tracking of a high volume of consultant and vendor invoices, payments and contracts.
  • Reconcile monthly credit card billing statements.
  • Prepare bank deposits, general ledger postings and statements.
  • Prepare expenses reports in the Concur System and assist in processing travel expenses.
  • Organize all the logistical aspects of in-state and D.C. based meetings, events, and conferences including making travel arrangements, and securing venues and catering, participants’ invites, and certificates.

SKILLS YOU'LL BRING TO THE ROLE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required with 3+ years’ experience in operations or accounting.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment; team-oriented environment while juggling multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to take initiative, solve problems creatively, and work independently.
  • Experience working at the international level and in cross-cultural settings a plus.
  • Fluency in English required and the ability to speak additional languages is a plus.
  • Proficiency with entire Microsoft Office 365, advanced Excel skills preferred.
  • Experience with Raisers Edge, and SAP Concur Expense Management System preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
