Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Teller / Deposit Operations Associate to join our banking team in Baltimore, MD. This position is responsible for providing excellent customer service while supporting the branch's daily teller, deposit, and operational activities.
The ideal candidate will have at least two years of banking experience, strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a solid understanding of deposit products, transaction processing, and banking operations. This individual should be comfortable working directly with customers as well as reviewing reports and identifying and resolving operational discrepancies.
Key Responsibilities

Teller & Customer Service

  • Provide friendly, professional, and efficient service to customers in person and by telephone.
  • Process deposits, withdrawals, cashing checks, transfers, loan payments, and other customer transactions accurately.
  • Receive and verify cash, checks, and other negotiable instruments in accordance with bank policies and procedures.
  • Balance cash drawer and daily transactions accurately.
  • Maintain appropriate cash levels and follow established cash-handling and security procedures.
  • Assist customers with account-related questions and routine banking needs.
  • Identify customer needs and refer appropriate products and services to bank officers or other departments.
  • Verify customer identification and account information in accordance with bank procedures.
  • Handle customer concerns and escalate issues when appropriate.
Deposit & Bank Operations

  • Review and reconcile daily operational reports, including ACH, mobile banking, remote deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and other electronic transactions.
  • Monitor daily transactions for accuracy, completeness, and unusual activity.
  • Research and resolve discrepancies between transaction records, reports, and core banking system balances.
  • Process and verify incoming and outgoing ACH transactions in accordance with established procedures.
  • Review mobile banking and electronic deposit activity and assist with resolving transaction exceptions.
  • Process and review check deposits, including applicable check verification and deposit procedures.
  • Assist with check adjustments, returns, exceptions, and other deposit-related items.
  • Assist with end-of-day branch balancing and operational closing procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for daily operational activities.
  • Work closely with operations staff and management to resolve posting errors, transaction discrepancies, and customer account issues.
  • Follow established procedures for holds, exceptions, adjustments, and transaction corrections.
Compliance & Risk Management

  • Follow all bank policies and procedures related to BSA/AML, OFAC, CIP, fraud prevention, and customer identification.
  • Maintain awareness of potentially suspicious or unusual transactions and escalate concerns according to bank procedures.
  • Follow dual-control, segregation-of-duties, and other internal control requirements.
  • Protect customer information and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Follow all cash-handling, security, and physical access procedures.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and information.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable banking regulations and internal policies.
General Branch Support

  • Assist with opening and closing branch operations as assigned.
  • Maintain organized transaction records and operational documentation.
  • Assist other branch employees with daily operational needs as necessary.
  • Participate in training on bank products, systems, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide backup support for other branch and deposit operations functions when needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of banking experience, preferably in teller, branch operations, deposit operations, or a similar role.
  • Strong cash-handling and transaction-processing skills.
  • Working knowledge of deposits, ACH transactions, electronic banking, and general branch operations.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to identify discrepancies and investigate issues to resolution.
  • Ability to handle confidential customer and financial information appropriately.
  • Comfortable working with computers, banking software, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
