What is dental imaging?

Dental imaging refers to a variety of techniques used to create visual representations of the teeth, jaws, and surrounding structures. These images help dentists diagnose, plan treatment, and monitor oral health conditions. Common dental imaging methods include X-rays (such as bitewing, panoramic, and periapical), cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), and digital imaging. Dental imaging is crucial for detecting cavities, assessing bone health, planning implants, and identifying other dental issues. Modern dental imaging is generally quick, non-invasive, and uses low levels of radiation.
