Responsibilities
  • What you'll do
    • V2X Inc. is currently seeking an Ordnance Specialist that will train, operate, and perform maintenance on explosive decontamination equipment. The Ordnance Specialist will read and comprehend Work Review Forms (WRF) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) prior to performing field operations. Able to visually recognize explosive constituents and able to safely handle, package, transport, and store explosive residue under supervision. Implements WRFs and SOPs, conforming to Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations under supervision and executes explosive sampling plans, ensuring accurate and timely submission for analysis under supervision. Maintains periodic training requirements as well as all safety and quality regulations.
  • Key Responsibilities
    • Serves as an explosive’s decontamination team member during the implementation and execution of site-specific WRFs and SOPs conforming to Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations.
    • Assists the Manufacturing Department in the execution of WRFs and SOPs for the decontamination of explosives manufacturing facilities, explosively laden railroad cars, and ordnance storage facilities at Navy, DoD, and non-DoD facilities.
    • Performs explosive characterization surveys at former manufacturing facilities. Executes explosive sampling plans, ensuring accurate and timely submission for analysis.

Qualifications
  • Education
  • Associate degree in related field and/or minimum of three (3) years’ experience directly related to explosives/energetics handling, decontamination, demilitarization, and demolition.
  • Certifications/Licenses:
  • Maintain a current certification in Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER 40-hour initial and eight (8) hour annual refresher training as required).
  • Certificates for either the Basics of Naval Explosives Hazard Control (AMMO 18-DL) or the Naval Explosives Safety for Supervisors/Managers (AMMO-49-DL) as well as Military Munitions Rule training courses described in Appendix D of NAVSEA OP-5, Ammunition and Explosives Safety Ashore no later than 30 days of employee on-boarding.
  • Individual shall have taken the Department of Transportation Explosive handler physical examination and provide certification to support acceptability to work with explosives.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years of direct experience in explosives/energetics handling, decontamination, demilitarization, and demolition.
  • Security Requirements:
  • Minimum of a Secret Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data system.
  • The selected applicant will be subject to a background check and drug testing.
  • Travel
  • The individual must be able to travel for periods of short duration as required within the U.S.
  • Desired Qualifications:
  • State issued commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a HAZMAT endorsement.
  • An explosive’s driver’s license with HAZMAT endorsement is desirable.
  • Desired ability to operate the following equipment: backhoe w/ bucket, warehouse and rough terrain forklift and elevating platforms.
