What is a demi chef?

A Demi Chef, also known as Demi Chef de Partie, is a junior chef in a professional kitchen who assists the Chef de Partie in overseeing a specific section, such as the grill, pastry, or vegetable station. They are responsible for preparing ingredients, cooking dishes under supervision, and ensuring food quality and hygiene standards are maintained. Demi Chefs often help train junior staff, contribute ideas for menu development, and act as a link between the junior cooks and the senior chefs. This role is essential for maintaining efficiency and consistency in a busy kitchen environment.

To thrive as a Demi Chef, you need solid culinary skills, a good understanding of food safety, and typically a relevant culinary qualification or apprenticeship. Familiarity with kitchen equipment, inventory management systems, and recipe software is often required.
