Description
Position SummaryThe Demand Planner role reports to the Demand Planning Manager and is responsible for a portfolio of suppliers with the goal of improving forecast accuracy and optimizing inventory that leads to improved service to our customers, lower obsolete and slow-moving inventory, and improved relationships with our suppliers.
Essential Tasks of the Position
  • Continuously works to optimize the supply chain by improving forecast accuracy, analyzing sourcing strategies (hub spoke versus supplier direct), and deploying appropriate stocking strategies in order to improve customer on time delivery and inventory managementReview all newly entered Product Customer Forecast's to determine if and how we should best plan for the customer demandReview and set safety stock levels in order to absorb demand and supply variability in order to meet service level targetsProvide forecasts to suppliers in order to help them plan for our expected future demand needsManage and further develop the S&OP process to ensure we have organizational alignment on forecasted sales and inventory targetsActively contribute to the development and improvement of Palmer Holland's demand planning processesManage, prioritize, and execute various ad-hoc project requests in support of purchasing, business, sales, and other cross-functional teams

Activities of the position affect quality including quality objectives. Responsibilities and authorities include where appropriate:
  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, process, or quality system, up to and including when necessary, stopping production to correct quality problems.

  • Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process, and quality system.

  • Document problems, steps taken for resolution and preventative action in CRM software and notify all parties required.

  • Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.

  • Verify the implementation of solutions in areas under your control.

  • Control further processing, delivery, or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.

  • Perform duties and tasks as prescribed in company policies, procedures, and work instructions.

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management or Business Administration
  • Management may elect to consider applicants with equivalent experience and/or a combination of experience/training/education in lieu of degree

Experience
  • 1-5 years' experience in demand planning/forecasting specifically focused on improving forecast accuracy required
  • Experience in Sales and Operations Planning process required
  • Experience in business analytics preferred

Knowledge/Skills
  • Intermediate level of expertise in MS Office and Contact Management Software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Ability to maintain professional conduct that always exemplifies the corporate policies, particularly when interacting directly with internal and external customers
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion
