Job description

Tri Delta is seeking a Director of Brand Advancement, Strategic Messaging & Public Relations to be be a leader within Tri Deltaโ€™s Brand Advancement Team who will be responsible for developing and leading business-critical communications, public relations initiatives, and stakeholder messaging that support organizational priorities, strengthen reputation, and advance Tri Deltaโ€™s mission. This role serves as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing communication strategy and counsel for operational initiatives, issues management, and high-impact stakeholder engagement.ย 

Theย ideal candidateย will be an experienced public relations or crisis communications professional with a passion for supporting member-based organizations.ย 

The role isย remote eligible. Candidates must be physically located in the US and eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.ย

KEY RESPONSIBILITIESย ย 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:ย ย 

Corporate/Executive Communications:ย ย 

  • Lead the development of high-impact, business-critical communications, including executive talking points, FAQs, stakeholder messaging,ย presentations, videoย messagingย and scripts tied to organizational initiativesย that reflect Tri Deltaโ€™s voice and strategic priorities.ย 

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on messagingย strategy, particularly in complex, sensitive, or high-risk situations.ย 

  • Ensure alignment and consistency across all stakeholder communications, balancing brand voice with operational clarity and legal considerations.ย 

  • Collaborateย across the Enterpriseย toย develop clear, consistent messaging frameworks for complex, high-stakes organizational initiatives; translate operational, legal, and reputationalย considerations into effective communication.ย 

  • Lead crisis and issues communication developingย timely,ย thoughtfulย and coordinated messaging for organizational incidents, including those reported through the collegiate Incident Response process, while partnering with leadership to ensureย accurateย and aligned communications.ย 

  • Anticipate stakeholder questions, concerns, and risks, and proactively address them through clear, structured communication.ย 

Strategic Communications:ย ย 

  • Develops clear, action-oriented marketing copy that supports organizational priorities and member engagement initiatives, driving awareness and participation.ย 

  • Partner cross-functionallyย to lead oversight of allย eventย and stakeholder scriptingย include but not limited to Foundersโ€™ Day, Convention, Collegiate Leadership Conference and Volunteer Leadership Conference.ย 

  • Advance Tri Delta's reputation as a thought leader byย identifyingย and developing strategic public relations and thought leadership opportunities that elevate the organization'sย expertise,ย insightsย and influence.ย 

  • Collaborate with Brand Advancement directors toย maintainย messaging consistency.ย 

  • Guide the strategic messaging team in developing operational content creation,ย editingย and writing for stakeholders.ย ย 

Team Leadership & Developmentย ย 

  • Lead, motivate, mentor, and grow theย strategic messaging teamย toย ensure successful execution of business imperative content.ย ย 

  • Oversee team responsible for Enterprise-wide copyediting.ย 

  • Promote Brand Advancement project processes to support team efficiency and alignment.ย 

  • Identifyย content opportunities to drive innovation and sustain Tri Deltaโ€™s brand reputation.ย ย

Educationย 

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field isย required.ย 

  • Aย Masterโ€™s degree in Strategic Communications, Business Administration, or a related discipline is preferred.ย ย 

Skillsย ย 

  • Strategic Leadership & Brand Management:ย Strong understanding of brand strategy, messaging frameworks, and enterprise-wide communication planning; Ability to lead and align communication efforts across diverse stakeholder groups.ย ย 

  • Team Leadership & Development:ย Proven ability to mentor, motivate, and grow high-performing communications teams.ย ย 

  • Reputation & Risk Communications:ย Expertise inย crisis communication principles and ability to respond quickly and appropriately to reputational risks; Experience managing incident response communications.ย ย 

  • Public Relations:ย Excellent writing and editorial skills with the ability to craft clear, consistent, and compelling messaging;ย Ability to write scripts for events and presentations tailored to diverseย audiences.;ย Existing mediaย listย is a plus.ย ย 

  • Performance Analysis & Reporting:ย Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret communication metrics and present insights to leadership.ย ย 

Experienceย ย 

  • 7โ€“10 years of progressive experience in strategic communications, brand management, or marketing, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.ย 

  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with senior leadership.ย 

  • Demonstrated ability to create clear, actionable, and audience-appropriate communications (e.g., FAQs, scripts, stakeholder messaging) that support organizational changes, policies,ย businessย operationย and brand positioning.ย 

  • Deep experience in crisis and issues management, including developing responsive communications in partnership with legal and organizational leadership; strong judgment under pressure.ย ย 

  • Demonstrated success translating complex or technical information into clear, audience-centered messaging.ย 

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, deadlines, and workstreams simultaneously.ย 

  • Familiarity with nonprofit, membership-based, or mission-driven organizations is a plus.ย
