Company Description Delmarva Site Development, Inc. is a full-service, turn-key heavy civil contractor serving the Mid-Atlantic Region since 1999. The company specializes in site development and soil stabilization for a diverse range of public and private clients. Based in Maryland and active in Washington, D.C. and surrounding states, Delmarva is known for successfully delivering complex and challenging projects. Founded by President Matt Facchina, the company was built on a commitment to personal attention for both employees and customers. Delmarva maintains a reputation for reliability, high performance, and strong client relationships.
Role Description The CDL A Lowboy Driver is a full-time, on-site role located in Bowie, MD. This role is responsible for safely transporting heavy equipment to and from job sites using a lowboy trailer, ensuring proper loading, securing, and unloading in compliance with all safety standards. Day-to-day tasks include performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, maintaining accurate transport and delivery records, and coordinating schedules with project managers and field supervisors. The driver will follow all federal, state, and local regulations, including DOT requirements, and assist with basic equipment positioning at job sites as needed. This role also requires proactive communication, adherence to company safety policies, and support of Delmarvaโ€™s high standards for service and professionalism.
Qualifications
  • Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record and demonstrated experience operating lowboy trailers for heavy equipment transport.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, load securement practices, and safe hauling procedures for construction and heavy civil equipment.
  • Ability to perform thorough vehicle inspections, identify basic mechanical issues, and coordinate maintenance as needed.
  • Reliable time management and route planning skills, with the ability to adjust to changing site schedules and priorities.
  • Effective communication skills to work closely with forepersons, equipment operators, and project managers on logistics and scheduling.
  • Physical ability to handle climbing onto equipment and trailers, securing loads, and working in outdoor construction environments.
  • Prior experience in heavy civil construction or site development transport is preferred; familiarity with the Mid-Atlantic region is a plus.
