We are looking for someone with a thorough understanding of the demands and approaches of development in a fast-paced industry environment, with the ability to keep client and end-user experience front of mind.

The Digital Delivery Discipline is a central pillar in Wood's Digital Environment team. Our team is a national leader in operational and strategic resilience, supporting governments and industry around the world. We provide real-time weather risk insights, climate vulnerability and risk assessments, oceanographic and complex systems modeling, in situ and remote sensing expertise, as well as many other related and supporting services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading Digital Environment's software development and operations teams to support the business needs
  • Defining and leading the implementation of the software development lifecycle.
  • Engaging with internal/external clients
  • Providing the mechanisms and direction that leads to high quality code that is readable, maintainable, scalable, and computationally efficient.
  • Implementing quality control methodologies including automated testing.
  • Accommodating competing priorities and client demands to plan and prioritize development needs for the software development team
  • Forward thinking of design and architecture of computing environment for the future, to ensure high reliability and stability of software services.
  • Ensuring that Digital Environment's software systems are compliant with relevant security and privacy regulations
  • Defining security strategies/controls and implement them on all products.
  • All aspects of developer and systems operations and operational excellence, including performance metrics, and reporting.
  • Proactively identify and implement process and quality improvements.
  • Writing, reviewing proposals for developing new products, services, and clients.
  • Conceptualize new services that will develop new capabilities and provide competitive opportunities.

  • Effective communication skills, able to present up to executive leadership, and equally comfortable talking to your engineering team and customers.
  • Comfortable planning and organizing complex technical projects, tracking key project metrics (e.g. velocity, burn down/up) to understand project progress and plan resources for future projects.
  • Adaptable and flexible as requirements and the needs of the business change and new direction is required.
  • Experience developing and managing portfolio and IT organizational budgets.
  • All aspects of developer and systems operations and operational excellence, including system monitoring, performance metrics, and reporting.
  • Experience managing 24/7 software as a service support.
  • Implementation and continued development of the corporate cyber security program for SOC2 compliance.
  • Experience with global privacy regulations and experience implementing privacy controls in software services.
  • Experience in applying Six Sigma and Lean Engineering principles.
  • IT project management experience with recognized certification (e.g. PMP).
