Delivery Helper – 1st Shift
Location: Zeeland, MI
Shift: 1st Shift | 6:30 AM–4:00/5:00 PM (Monday-Friday)
Pay: $20.00/hour

Job Summary
We're looking for a dependable and hardworking Delivery Helper to join our team in Zeeland, MI. In this hands-on role, you'll ride along with a delivery driver and assist with loading, unloading, carrying, and placing sheets of drywall and other construction-related materials at customer job sites.
This is a physically demanding position that requires frequent heavy lifting, working outdoors in varying weather conditions, and providing professional service at customer locations. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and comfortable with a fast-paced, physical workday.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Delivery Helper, your core responsibilities will include:
  • Drywall Loading & Unloading: Load and unload sheets of drywall and other construction materials from delivery vehicles.
  • Material Carrying & Placement: Safely carry construction materials from the truck and place them in designated areas at customer job sites.
  • Delivery Assistance: Ride along with the delivery driver and assist with locating job sites, organizing deliveries, and completing assigned routes efficiently.
  • Job Site Support: Help prepare delivery areas before unloading and restore job sites after deliveries are completed.
  • Product Handling: Carefully handle drywall and other construction materials to prevent damage to products and customer property.
  • Load Securement: Help properly secure drywall, construction materials, equipment, metal, pallets, and other products on the truck.
  • Pre-Trip Preparation: Assist with inspections of equipment, paperwork, and loaded products to ensure orders are accurate and ready for delivery.
  • Truck & Equipment Care: Help maintain delivery equipment and prepare materials and equipment for the following day's deliveries.
  • Warehouse Support: Assist with staging, organizing, loading, and other warehouse responsibilities between deliveries as needed.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow company procedures and applicable OSHA and DOT safety guidelines while loading, transporting, and unloading materials.
In addition, you'll communicate professionally with customers and coworkers while helping ensure deliveries are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
What We're Looking For
Qualifications
  • Previous delivery, construction, warehouse, material handling, or general labor experience preferred.
  • Must be comfortable loading, unloading, and carrying sheets of drywall and other construction-related materials.
  • Ability to read, write, follow directions, and communicate information accurately.
  • Ability to lift at least 75 pounds and frequently move materials weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to safely load and unload materials from flatbed or boom trucks.
  • Comfortable performing repetitive, physically demanding work throughout the shift.
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to follow company, OSHA, and DOT safety procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a delivery team.
  • Strong attendance, dependability, and initiative.
  • Flexibility to work until approximately 4:00–5:00 PM, depending on delivery routes and daily workload.
Skills
  • Drywall & Construction Material Handling: Ability to safely lift, carry, load, unload, and place drywall and other construction materials.
  • Heavy Material Handling: Ability to safely maneuver large, bulky, and heavy materials while preventing damage.
  • Delivery Support: Ability to work alongside the driver to ensure materials are delivered safely, accurately, and efficiently.
  • Customer Service: Professional and courteous communication when working at customer locations.
  • Communication: Ability to accurately receive instructions and quickly communicate problems or concerns.
  • Organization & Prioritization: Ability to manage multiple deliveries, job sites, and customer deadlines.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work closely with the driver and other team members when handling large or heavy materials.
  • Safety Awareness: Strong commitment to proper lifting, material handling, load securement, and job site safety procedures.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to remain standing and physically active for approximately 90% of the workday.
  • Ability to lift at least 75 pounds and frequently move materials weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift and carry sheets of drywall and other bulky construction materials throughout the shift.
  • Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, grip, and perform repetitive lifting and carrying.
  • Ability to climb on and off delivery equipment and assist with loading and unloading flatbed or boom trucks.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding material-handling duties throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to maintain a steady work pace while meeting customer delivery schedules.
