Opportunity
The Assistant Deli Manager supports the Deli Department by overseeing operations during assigned shifts under the direction of the Deli Manager and Store Manager. Responsibilities include ensuring customer satisfaction and product quality, supervising and training associates, and assisting with scheduling and departmental planning.
Key Responsibilites
  • Ensure customers receive a positive shopping experience.
  • Offer accurate product information and make informed recommendations on deli items.
  • Oversee weekly staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Train new staff on procedures, food safety standards, and operations.
  • Oversee inventory management to maintain freshness, quality, and proper stock levels while minimizing waste.
  • Verify deliveries for accuracy and condition; maintain required documentation and reports.
  • Ensure pricing accuracy in alignment with margin guidelines and departmental objectives.
  • Record and monitor price changes, in-store usage, voids, refunds, and spoilage per company policy.
  • Stock, rotate, and display deli products according to quality and compliance standards.
  • Monitor temperatures and enforce health and safety regulations.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized and cases visually appealing.
  • Handle damaged or spoiled goods in accordance with company policy.
  • Ensure a safe work environment by addressing hazards promptly.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Previous deli experience is preferred.
  • SERV Safe Certification is preferred.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing needs especially during times of high volume and/or stress.
  • Must be able to read and do simple math problems.
  • Wants to be part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • 18 years of age or older.
