Purpose of Position:


Del Monte Foods is the Foods Division of Fresh Del Monte, a global grower, producer and marketer of fresh, value-added, and shelf-stable produce. Del Monte Foods has a powerful portfolio of brands, including the iconic Del Monte®, Contadina® and S&W®. We are currently seeking an Assistant Controller. An Assistant Controller is responsible for the control environment and direct oversight of outsourced Accounting and Finance Operations function, supplied by Accenture, located in Manila, Philippines. Working with the Division’s Controller, the Assistant Controller is responsible for all aspects of timely and accurate financial reporting process, including maintenance of the general ledger, Order-To-Cash and Procure-To-Pay transaction processing, review and approval of journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations, collaborate with FP&A function on review and analysis of periodic financial results of the Foods Division, providing assurance on compliance with US GAAP and global accounting policies across the organization.


Accountabilities:

  • Assist Controller with delivery of timely and accurate monthly financial results of Del Monte Foods Division for consolidation and reporting to Del Monte Corporate Accounting.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Accounting on maintenance of corporate accounting policies and procedures to ensure adherence and compliance with US GAAP.
  • Ensure accounting processes and procedures of the Foods Division are defined and documented.
  • Manage performance and development of Cost Accounting Manager.
  • Assist Controller with guidance and management of Plant finance teams to ensure inventory reserves and cost accounting practices are accurate and consistent with corporate accounting policy.
  • Oversee execution of internal controls to mitigate key financial statement risks in the financial reporting, procure to pay, order to cash, inventory, fixed assets, treasury, tax, payroll, and benefit processes.
  • Work closely with IT to ensure key IT general computer controls are designed and operating effectively to ensure financial statements and reports are complete and accurate.
  • Liaise with auditors (internal and external); oversee audit requests, ensuring requested information is provided in a timely manner. Assist teams with prioritization and implementation of remediation plans, as applicable.
  • Collaborate with Controller on special projects and initiatives to continue to support the business in the most efficient manner, evaluation of process improvement opportunities, automation and system implementations, etc.


Minimum Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting, general ledger oversight, and month‑end close management.
  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP and demonstrated experience ensuring compliance with corporate accounting policies and internal control frameworks.
  • Experience managing outsourced accounting operations or working within a shared‑services environment, ideally with global teams.
  • Proven leadership capabilities, including managing and developing accounting staff and influencing cross‑functional partners such as FP&A, IT, and plant finance teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial results, identify risks, and recommend process improvements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills, with experience supporting internal and external audits and presenting financial information to senior leadership.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and financial reporting tools, along with a track record of supporting system enhancements, automation, and process optimization initiatives.
  • Public Accounting experience at a Big Four accounting firm.
  • Experience working with outsourced or offshore accounting teams, particularly in a shared‑services or BPO environment.
  • Background in manufacturing (with hands on experience in cost accounting), or inventory‑intensive industries, ideally within food or consumer packaged goods.
  • Hands‑on experience with major ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar), including involvement in system upgrades or implementations.
  • Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements and prior participation in internal or external audit cycles.
