Description Thompson Software Solutions is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to support the development of software systems for a military aircraft platform. This is an opportunity to contribute directly to safety & mission-critical avionics and embedded capabilities that enable the performance, safety, and effectiveness of military aviation systems. This position requires a software engineer to use a wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the software field to develop, integrate, and test software products. The successful candidate will be a member of a high-performing multi-site team and must be self-motivated with a strong work ethic, time-management, and interpersonal skills. In this role, you will work independently at times on projects, at other times will be in a collaborative team environment with other software engineers, as well as other program development and deployment teams. Basic Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline * 8+ years of C, C++, and/or Ada software development experience * Prior experience writing embedded software (C, C++, and/or Ada) * Experience developing and integrating graphics software for avionics/safety-critical embedded systems, including RTOS-based platforms. * Experience with CoreSuite, OpenGL/OpenGL ES, Vulkan/Vulkan SC, or comparable embedded graphics technologies. * Prior experience troubleshooting/debugging software on target hardware in lab/mock-up environments * Prior experience in avionics or defense systems development * Prior experience using IBM DOORS to author, review, and maintain software requirements with full traceability. * Experience with real-time operating systems (e.g. Lynx, Green Hills) * Prior SW Development and Integration experience utilizing the following communications protocols (MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, Ethernet) * Ability to professionally communicate project status and collaborate on technical solutions with clients and peers * Ability to work onsite 100% * Must be a US Citizen * Ability to obtain a security clearance Preferred / Additional Skills * Master's degree in a STEM discipline * Proficient with Linux and Windows development environment . * Experience with GPU/rendering pipelines, graphics drivers, performance optimization, and hardware/software integration and test. * Proficient with Atlassian or similar tools (Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket, etc.) * Experience with DO-178C, MIL-HDBK-516 and safety-critical software development practices * Experience with Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA), ARINC 653 and flight software development * Experience communicating and documenting complex technical designs * Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills * Ability to travel 10% Sound Exciting?
