Job description


We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Advanced Software Engineer to join our engineering team. This role is responsible for a variety of professional-level engineering responsibilities and requires the application of advanced knowledge of software engineering disciplines, processes, and tools to execute project subtasks and ensure compliance with technical, quality, and customer requirements.
The successful candidate will contribute to the design, development, integration, verification, and release of software features for Avionics Displays systems, algorithms, and software frameworks. This position plays an important role in delivering products that meet customer specifications, certification requirements, and organizational quality standards. The role also involves regular interaction with internal stakeholders and external customers to support project execution and product compliance.
This Advanced Software Engineer is recognized as an emerging authority within Integrated Flight Deck Systems COE and is expected to help define and improve engineering processes, recommend enhancements to technical methods, and mentor early-career engineers. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical depth, independent problem-solving ability, and the capability to lead feature decomposition, coordinate development activities, and support programs execution.
In this role, the candidate will directly impact product delivery by executing engineering subtasks, identifying technical improvements, driving feature implementation, and supporting the successful completion of customer-driven software solutions.
Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute software engineering activities to meet technical, quality, schedule, certification, and customer requirements.
  • Analyze, develop, and manage software and system requirements, feature implementation, and technical coordination across development activities.
  • Design, develop, integrate, maintain, test, debug, and verify avionics display software, algorithms, and application/framework-level functionality.
  • Support software build, integration, release, and delivery activities while ensuring compliance with product, project, and certification requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, quality, certification, program management, and customer teams to support product development and customer acceptance.
  • Communicate technical progress, project status, risks, compliance findings, and corrective actions to stakeholders, leadership, and customers.
  • Drive continuous improvement of engineering processes, methods, and product quality, while providing technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to engineers.

Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.
  • 5 years of software development experience, including product development and systems/software integration in embedded, real-time, or regulated software environments.
  • 5 years of hands-on development experience using C++ in embedded and/or real-time systems (e.g., DEOS, RTOS, or equivalent environments).
  • Experience designing and implementing software architectures, object-oriented designs, algorithms, data structures, and software lifecycle processes including design, development, verification, and release.

  • 5 years of experience developing software in regulated or safety-critical industries such as aerospace, avionics, defense, industrial automation, medical devices, or similar environments.
  • Experience developing, integrating, testing, or maintaining real-time, embedded, control, or mission-critical systems.
  • Experience supporting certification, compliance reviews, quality audits, or requirements-based verification activities.
  • Experience providing technical guidance, code reviews, onboarding support, or mentoring to early-career engineers.
