Providence Staffing is partnering with a well-established and growing criminal defense firm in Yuma, Arizona that is seeking a Criminal Defense Attorney to join its team.

This role is not for someone simply looking to collect a paycheck. It is for an attorney who wants their work to matter, values professional growth, and wants to be part of a supportive, high-performing team—without burnout.

The firm is deeply committed to defending individuals who need strong, dedicated advocacy. The work is meaningful, the standards are high, and the impact is real. Attorneys see the difference their work makes every single day.

If you are seeking a long-term career—not just a job—this opportunity offers both professional fulfillment and stability.

What the Firm Offers

  • Highly competitive compensation
  • Immediate PTO accrual starting at 4+ weeks
  • 3 days of paid sick time available immediately

  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid approved CLEs, bar dues, and select voluntary bar memberships
  • Attorney personal referral bonus opportunities
  • Relocation bonus available
  • Weekly Friday team-building “happy half-hours” because culture truly matters

The Role

You will manage a full criminal defense caseload, ranging from misdemeanors to serious felony matters, taking ownership of cases from intake through resolution. You will work closely with firm leadership to develop legal strategies while maintaining strong client relationships.

This role requires a self-starter who is adaptable, confident in the courtroom, and capable of thinking quickly under pressure. The firm is seeking a true team player—someone who understands that no task is too small and is willing to wear multiple hats to ensure overall success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Case Management: Handle a full caseload of misdemeanor and felony matters from initial consultation through hearings, motions, trials, and post-trial proceedings
  • Court Representation: Represent clients at all court appearances, including pretrial conferences, motion hearings, bench trials, and jury trials
  • Legal Writing & Research: Draft and file pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery; conduct legal research to support defense strategies
  • Investigation: Interview witnesses, visit crime scenes, review discovery, and analyze evidence to identify weaknesses and inconsistencies
  • Client Relations: Maintain regular communication with clients to ensure they understand their case status, legal options, and next steps

Leadership, Mentorship & Culture Expectations

Attorneys are evaluated not only on legal outcomes, but also on their contribution to the firm's culture.

  • Foster an inclusive and respectful team environment
  • Mentor and support paralegals and administrative staff
  • Maintain professionalism and consistency in all internal and external interactions

Working Conditions

  • Exposure to sensitive and traumatic subject matter, including crime scenes
  • Ability to lift, carry, or push up to 35 pounds for up to 300 feet

  • Minimum 1 year of criminal law experience (defense and/or prosecution)
  • Strong analytical and case law interpretation skills
  • Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Valid Arizona driver's license (maintained throughout employment)
  • Professional appearance and strong client-facing demeanor

Personality, integrity, intelligence, and interpersonal skills are highly valued, along with a positive, solutions-oriented attitude.

Compensation

  • $120,000 – $160,000 annually (DOE)
  • Base salary plus bonus compensation tied to performance and production

Tier Structure:

  • Tier I: $120,000 – $135,000
  • Tier II: $135,000 – $160,000

Salary is negotiable based on experience and internal equity. This position is exempt and not eligible for overtime.

Selection Process

  • Only the most qualified candidates will be considered
  • Online application required
  • Minimum of two (2) writing samples required
  • Must pass a pre-employment background and/or fingerprint investigation
