Job Description:

Equipment Engineer - Metrology

The Wireless Semiconductor Division (WSD) designs and develops highly integrated, state-of-the-art RF front-end solutions for use in mobile communications and WiFi access points. Together, we're enabling our customers to distinguish their products using Broadcom's differentiated RF semiconductors.

As an Equipment Engineer in the Metrology Team, you will be responsible for the reliable operation, optimization, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Metrology equipment within the wafer fabrication facility located in Fort Collins, Colorado. You will work closely with Equipment Maintenance Technicians, Unit Process Engineers (UPE), Industrial Engineering, R&D, and external Vendors to meet high volume manufacturing needs with equipment capabilities.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support for metrology and automated sorting tools used in semiconductor manufacturing, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.

  • Conduct and prescribe preventive and corrective maintenance of metrology equipment, troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, process engineers, and technicians) to diagnose and resolve tool issues.

  • Support the installation and qualification of new metrology tools, ensuring they meet manufacturing requirements.

  • Perform calibration, software updates, and tool modifications to maintain equipment specifications.

  • Analyze tool performance data and generate reports to improve tool efficiency and identify potential issues early.

  • Provide training and mentoring to technicians and other team members on tool operation and maintenance.

  • Coordinate support and scheduling with Equipment Vendors to perform maintenance, repairs, and drive continuous improvement projects.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering for Mechanical, Electronics, Computer or related fields.

  • 5 years of experience working with semiconductor manufacturing equipment, preferably metrology tools responsible for defect inspection and measurement.

  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining complex electro-mechanical systems. Including optical character recognition, robotics and systems that rely on pneumatics, vacuum, and lasers.

  • Excellent teamwork and good verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated strong partnership skills with Operations and Equipment Maintenance organizations.

  • Good problem solving skills, sound analytical techniques, and an ability to solve problems systematically. Design of Experiment (DOE), characterization, and optimization capabilities. Strong understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and proficiency with data science and SPC software. Familiarity applying Lean manufacturing, Six-Sigma, and similar principles to complex issues.

  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

  • Able to work in a clean room environment, adhering to strict cleanliness protocols and wearing required clean room attire to maintain a contamination-free workspace.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $91,000 - $146,000.

This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
