Role Description
Under minimal supervision, the Finish Application Technician III performs advanced finishing operations and is responsible for achieving high-end cosmetic standards on VIP aircraft interior components. This role serves as a subject matter expert in finishing techniques, supporting complex work, rework, and mentoring of junior team members.

Essential Job Functions
Perform advanced surface preparation and finishing processes on complex components requiring high-end cosmetic finishes.
Apply and blend specialty finishes including high-gloss, multi-layer coatings, custom stains, and decorative finishes to exacting standards.
Interpret complex engineering drawings, material specifications, and finishing requirements to ensure full compliance.
Identify, troubleshoot, and correct defects or cosmetic discrepancies to meet customer expectations.
Ensure all work is completed in accordance with RSQM, FAA regulations, and company quality standards.
Lead by example in maintaining quality, safety, and productivity standards.
Provide guidance, mentoring, and technical support to lower-level technicians.
Support process improvements related to finishing quality, efficiency, and material usage.
Coordinate with leadership on workflow, risk areas, and schedule impacts.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED required. Trade school preferred.
5+ years of experience in finish application, preferably in aviation or high-end custom manufacturing.
Demonstrated expertise in advanced finishing techniques and cosmetic standards.

Required Skills and Abilities
Expert-level knowledge of finishing techniques, materials, and tools.
Ability to consistently produce high-quality, defect-free finishes on complex components.
Strong understanding of FAA/RSQM requirements and compliance standards.
Advanced problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
Proven ability to mentor and develop junior technicians.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship excellence.


Work Environment
This position is based in an aircraft hangar environment and may involve:
Exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions
Loud noise levels
Use of heavy machinery and specialized tools
Potential contact with chemicals or hazardous materials
Working in confined aircraft interior spaces
