Job description

Senior Decision Analyst

Location: Lansing, MI

Work Arrangement: Hybrid


About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Decision Analyst to help improve how important business decisions are made. In this role, you’ll take complex business problems, break them down into clear and measurable decisions, and use data to determine the best approach.

You’ll work closely with business leaders and technical teams to understand how decisions are currently made, analyze the data behind them, identify risks and tradeoffs, and develop more consistent and effective decision-making processes.


What You’ll Do

  • Partner with business leaders to understand complex decisions, processes, and business goals.
  • Break complicated problems into clear decision points, rules, and measurable outcomes.
  • Use SQL and Python to analyze data and evaluate potential outcomes.
  • Build decision models, scenarios, and frameworks to help determine the best course of action.
  • Analyze tradeoffs involving cost, risk, efficiency, and business impact.
  • Test different assumptions and thresholds to understand how they affect outcomes.
  • Translate analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for business stakeholders.
  • Help improve business processes based on data-driven insights.
  • Document decision logic and analysis so decisions are transparent, repeatable, and easy to understand.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience in decision analysis, advanced analytics, business analytics, operations research, data science, or a related field.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience using Python for analytical work.
  • Experience solving complex business problems using data and structured analysis.
  • Experience with scenario modeling, sensitivity analysis, risk analysis, or cost-benefit analysis.
  • Strong communication skills and experience working directly with business stakeholders or leadership.
  • Ability to translate complex analytical findings into practical business recommendations.
  • Experience working in environments where decisions have meaningful financial, operational, customer, or risk impacts.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with formal decision modeling or decision intelligence.
  • Experience with Decision Model and Notation (DMN) or similar decision frameworks.
  • Experience incorporating predictive or machine learning models into business processes.
  • Experience in a regulated or compliance-sensitive industry.
