Job description

Grand Canyon University! One of Arizona's leading institutions of higher learning.
Located in the Valley of the Sun in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona. GCU is an institutionally accredited, private, nondenominational Christian University.
The Grand Canyon University Speech and Debate Team needs a skilled Debate Coach Assistant who can provide reliable support to the Director in all areas of coaching for debates.
What you will do:
  • Conduct and coach weekly practice.
  • Assist in debate case construction.
  • Travel in and out-of-state with the team (up to 10 tournaments per year).
  • Judge tournaments.
  • Assist with administrative tasks associated with team budget and travel expenses.
  • Other duties as assigned

What you will need:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Two years of competition or coaching experience in NPDA debate, IPDA debate, and/or AFA/NFA individual events.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University's Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

Bonus Points:
  • Four years of competition or coaching experience in intercollegiate speech and debate
  • Qualified to elimination rounds at the National Parliamentary Tournament of Excellence, National Parliamentary Debate Association Championship Tournament, IPDA or Speech National Championships.
