Job description

Position Title: Nursing Student Success and Retention Specialist (Temp PT)
Employment Type: Temporary Part-Time
Department: Nursing
Campus: South Campus
Salary Grade: Per Contract
Remote Work Option: Fully In-Person (May be subject to change)

Work Hours: Standard College hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm; Actual hours will be based on class schedules and the needs of the department.
General Summary: The Nursing Student Success &Retention Specialist supports student success, progression, retention, andNCLEX readiness within the Nursing Program. This position provides proactiveacademic support through early identification of at-risk students, individualizedremediation planning, coaching, mentoring, data analysis, and collaborationwith faculty. The Nursing Student Success & Retention Specialist serves asa key resource in the development, implementation, and evaluation of retentioninitiatives while utilizing assessment and performance data to improve studentoutcomes and program effectiveness.
Requirements:
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with documented active pursuit of a master's degree in nursing.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience. Experience in nursing education, academic support, student success, remediation, or retention initiatives preferred.
  • Current Pennsylvania Registered Nurse license or multistate licensure privilege.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain ATI Proctor Certification and ATI Champion designation.
  • Proficiency with educational technology platforms and student success software

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Identify and intervene with academically at-risk students.
  • Develop and implement individualized student success and remediation plans.
  • Analyze assessment data and identify trends impacting retention and progression.
  • Coach and mentor students using evidence-based success strategies.
  • Facilitate individual and group remediation sessions.
  • Communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
  • Prepare reports and present retention and assessment findings.
  • Coordinate multiple projects and maintain accurate records.
  • Utilize educational technologies and data management systems effectively.
  • Work collaboratively in a team-based academic environment.

Duties:
Student Support and Remediation
  • Identify academically at-risk students through review of course performance, assessment data, standardized testing results, and faculty referrals.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and document individualized remediation and student success plans.
  • Provide academic coaching, study skill development, test-taking strategies, and success planning.

Data Tracking, Assessment, and Reporting
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret assessment and retention data as outlined in the Systematic Evaluation Plan and program action plans.
  • Collaborate with faculty to identify student performance trends, strengths, and opportunities for improvement.

Faculty Collaboration and Support
  • Collaborate with faculty regarding student progression concerns, remediation plans, and intervention strategies.
  • Provide guidance and support related to academic resource products, reports, assessment tools, and remediation resources.

Student Orientation and Success Programming
  • Provide orientation regarding academic support products, learning management systems, assessments, remediation expectations, and available academic support resources.
  • Develop and facilitate workshops and support sessions focused on study skills, technology utilization, academic success, and NCLEX readiness.

Compliance and Accommodations
  • Collaborate with faculty and Disability Resource Services to implement approved testing accommodations.
  • Ensure assessment and remediation practices comply with institutional policies, current best practices, accreditation expectations, and program standards.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS
  • Serve on nursing program committees as assigned.
  • Participate in professional development activities related to student success, retention, assessment, and nursing education.
  • Assist with special projects, accreditation activities, and program evaluation initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work is primarily performed in an office, classroom, laboratory, and virtual environment.
  • Requires prolonged periods of sitting, standing, computer use, and communication with students and faculty.
  • Occasional travel between campuses may be required.
  • Must be able to conduct individual and group meetings in person and through virtual platforms.
  • Ability to move throughout campus facilities and access instructional environments.
