Job Title: Experienced Automotive Controller / Comptroller (Single-Point Dealership)
Location: Novi, MI
Job Type: Full-time
Pay Range: $55,000 – $75,000 / year (Base Salary + Performance Bonuses)
About Us:

We are a premier, single-point automotive dealership seeking a highly experienced and hands-on Automotive Controller / Comptroller to lead our financial operations and administrative team. In our single-rooftop environment, this position serves as the core financial authority—combining strategic accounting oversight with direct, day-to-day management of office operations, title work, and factory reporting.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Oversight & OEM Reporting:

    • Manage full month-end and year-end accounting closes, general ledger reconciliations, and balance sheet schedules.
    • Prepare and submit accurate monthly OEM factory financial statements in compliance with manufacturer standards.
    • Oversee floor plan inventory management, payoffs, line-of-credit audits, and cash flow forecasting.
  • Office Management & Staff Leadership:

    • Direct and supervise all administrative office personnel (title clerks, billers, cashiers, accounts payable/receivable).
    • Manage payroll administration, sales commission calculations, tax compliance, and HR onboarding workflows.
    • Ensure smooth daily operations across deal posting, contracts-in-transit, and bank deposits.
  • Title & DMV Compliance:

    • Directly oversee or process complex vehicle title work, state registrations, trade-in lien payoffs, and out-of-state paperwork.
    • Resolve title delays or trade-in discrepancies quickly to keep contracts funding on time.
  • Executive Collaboration:

    • Work directly with the Dealer Principal and General Manager to deliver Daily Operating Controls (DOC) and profit projections.
    • Maintain internal controls, prepare for annual tax/audit filings, and safeguard dealership assets.
Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of progressive dealership accounting experience as a Dealership Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Office Manager in an auto dealership.
  • OEM Experience: Direct, proven experience preparing and submitting month-end OEM factory financial statements.
  • DMS Proficiency: Advanced hands-on expertise with major Dealership Management Systems (CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, Dealertrack, or Tekion).
  • Title & Compliance Expertise: In-depth knowledge of state DMV regulations, vehicle titling, lien clearance, and IRS form 8300 compliance.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to manage, train, and hold administrative office staff accountable.
