Position: Instructional Paraprofessional
Qualifications: Applicants must possess an Associate's or higher degree;the completion of 60 credit hours of study towards a degree program at an accredited institution of higher education;or a passing score on the Praxis Para Pro exam or an equivalent assessment. A minimum of three (3) years of experience working in an elementary school setting is highly desired.
Reports To: Principal
Length of Service: 185 days
Rate of Pay: Based upon credentials and experience in accordance with the district-approved pay schedule.
Performance Responsibilities:
  • Under the direction of the classroom teacher, helps to maintain and oversee a positive learning environment.
  • Assists the teacher in implementing appropriate daily learning experiences that are congruent with the approved practices for the grade level and/or class composition and aligned with the instructional mission of the school and district.
  • Collaborates with the teacher as appropriate to help ensure that informed decisions are made regarding curricular planning, classroom environment issues, and instructional practices.
  • Assists the teacher in providing any unique and/or special accommodations required for students.
  • Helps the teacher promote a safe, secure, healthy learning environment.
  • Works with others consistently in a cooperative and respectful manner.
  • Provides individualized instruction to identified students and small groups who are experiencing difficulty in reading and mathematics.
  • Plans instructional activities that meet students' individual needs, interests, and abilities in reading and mathematics.
  • Advises teachers about students' progress throughout the course of intervention.
  • Helps to retrieve the performance data of students being served so teachers could analyze it to evaluate intervention effectiveness and determine progress.
  • Helps to maintain and oversee a positive learning environment under the direction of a properly-certified teacher.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Works with others consistently in a cooperative and respectful manner
