In-Line Inspection - Field Technician – Level II

Cypress In-Line Inspection, LLC (“Cypress”) is a young technology company providing in-line pipeline inspection services to the municipal water and energy industries. We have a very talented team of industry veterans including mechanical, electrical, software, signal processing engineers that work closely with our field technicians. Our ultra-high resolution fifth generation (“5G”) EcoVision™ ILI tools offer best in class Magnetic Flux Leakage (“MFL”) technology. We work for some of the most prestigious municipal water authorities and energy pipeline companies in the world including but not limited to the City of Denver, City of San Francisco, Jordan Valley, North Jersey Water Supply Commission, Washington County Water, City of Denver; and energy companies like Bridger, Chevron, Crescent Midstream, Dominion/Enbridge, DCP Midstream, Energy Transfer, Marathon, Phillips 66, Targa Midstream, Lower Valley Energy, United States Air Force, Williams Companies, etc. We also have next generation proprietary EcoView™ data analysis software that allows us to provide our customers with high quality reporting. Our fleet of tools range from 6” to 24” currently, and we continue to expand our fleet.


Overview

We are seeking an experienced adaptable In-line Inspection Field Technician – Level II to join our growing team. The role offers a unique opportunity for a skilled engineering technician to learn about our tools. This position will report to the Director of Operations.

Required Skills & Key Responsibilities

  • Prior to each project, performing a thorough engineering review of client provided information/data relating to the ILI inspection to confirm if all the required technical/production information has been provided to allow a full engineering evaluation and tool build of the ILI equipment.
  • Reviewing historical data provided by the client from previous inspections or within the company’s own archived data storage server and correlating between different data sets of ILI inspections.
  • Prior to mobilization, providing all engineering related information in the correct formats (i.e. Tool Builds, Required Modifications, Engineering Review, etc.) and ensuring it is uploaded to the company servers.
  • Possessing the experience and a full understanding in the technical/engineering operations of company’s unique ILI tools for Caliper, MFL, AGM and IMU technologies.
  • Ensuring that the company’s ILI tools and equipment pass all mandatory checks and calibrations and are ready for mobilization.
  • Working with company teammates, identify any changes in the work scope to be performed at the site that may impact costs, schedule, contract, or customer relationship and ensure that change orders reflect the change in scope.
  • Providing onsite engineering support to the company’s clients and interfacing directly with the client’s staff and technical team members during the pipeline inspection.
  • Ensuring the company ILI equipment properly exits the client’s pipeline; reviewing and reporting any damage to the equipment; and ensuring the ILI data has been properly collected for further analysis at the company’s headquarters to avoid re-runs.
  • Desire to provide engineering technician skills for a variety of pipeline inspections.
  • US Citizen or Foreign National holding US work authorized visa, valid US driver’s license, responsible driving skills, and acceptable motor vehicle history
  • Ability to utilize engineering skills to complete post run QA/QC Analysis on MFL, Geometry and IMU tool data.
  • Learn about technology, operating and technical procedures, quality systems, and workplace procedures.
  • Learn how to clean equipment, tracking, troubleshooting, repairs, QC policies, HSE standards, and maintenance procedures ensuring quality and proper operations.
  • Mentoring and training Trainee and Level I Enginneering Technicians and others.
  • Utilize engineering skills to complete inspection projects in accordance with Cypress' operating guidelines.
  • Strong understanding of launching and receiving of ILI systems and associated support equipment.
  • Safe operation of forklifts, hoists, and cranes as needed.
  • Safely transport our tools and associated support equipment to project site.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and improvement in the work environment.
  • Utilize engineering skills to ensure the quality, accuracy, and timely completion of project-related reports.
  • Utilize engineering skills to analyze field data and interpret basic pipeline features for field reports.
  • Apply knowledge of job scheduling and planning.
  • Ability to work independently or with a team in accordance with project scope.
  • Actively participate in training sessions and pass required exams
  • Ability to apply engineering skills and practical knowledge from informal/formal training, classroom, and OJT to field work.
