Job description

Overview:

Responsible for supporting the origination, structuring, and execution of lending mandates within M&T's Financial Institutions Group with particular focus on Structured Finance.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Act as primary day-to-day contact for transaction execution support including financial statement analysis, cash flow valuation, industry research and marketing materials for clients and other internal / external stakeholders.
  • Model and structure transactions across consumer and commercial asset classes, including auto, home improvement, solar, mortgage servicing and aircraft leasing.
  • Drive conversations with clients, senior bankers, credit officers, underwriters, rating agencies, and attorneys.
  • Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.
  • Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:

Incumbent will provide analytical and transaction execution support to grow FIG's lending book while maximizing DCM/ECM, Treasury Management, and Wilmington Trust fee opportunities for M&T.

Works with limited supervision from senior bankers.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelors Degree in related field.

Three years related credit experience in (FIG/Specialty Finance or a related field (Investment Banking, Structured Finance, Credit Underwriting), sales preferred.

Advanced computer skills and strong knowledge of Excel, Word and Power Point.

Highly proficient in cash flow modeling.

Financial analysis and knowledge of credit principles.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of personnel using diplomacy.

Ability to sell effectively to prospects and clients.

Excellent presentation skills.

Education and Experience Preferred:

General knowledge of banking and the Bank's various commercial fee based products.

Applied knowledge of Bank policies and procedures.
