Job description

The Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining the physical plant and grounds of Cunningham Children's Home. This role includes general maintenance, equipment upkeep, and vehicle care. You will also assist with setting up for special functions and maintaining the swimming pool.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7 am-4 pm, on-call 1 day/week and 1 weekend/month

Cunningham is an exemplary child welfare and educational services agency that provides caring support and therapeutic intervention to more than 953 children, youth, young adults and families each year through comprehensive programs including residential treatment, special education and community-based services.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform general maintenance tasks in all Cunningham-operated buildings, on and off-campus.
  • Maintain non-IT equipment, vehicles, and grounds, including the swimming pool.
  • Assist with painting, moving furniture, and event setup.
  • Uphold Cunningham's core values of spirituality, teamwork, integrity, and respect in all interactions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality and model professionalism.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid Illinois driver's license.
  • 5 years of experience in general maintenance and repair.
  • Strong skills in mechanics, carpentry, painting, gardening, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and identify maintenance needs.

Working Conditions:
  • Indoor work: 60%
  • Outdoor work: 40%
