Job description

Job Description
The Role:
In-vehicle electronics is a fast-growing technology in the global automotive industry featuring many cutting-edge technologies such as Compute, body and zone controllers, multi-view cameras, Gig+Ethernet, PCIe, digital/analog interfaces and more. We are looking for creative and enthusiastic candidate to become part of a fast-moving team who want to lead the future direction of the automotive industry. The Power Center of Excellence team's mission is to ensure that the power distribution and conversion circuitry within our ECU hardware products are reliable and robust, enabling advanced functionality for our customers. In this role you will be responsible for product development, verification, and integration activities.
Responsibilities include utilizing engineering tools and processes to successfully develop power circuitry for our internally designed ECU's.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and design high-efficiency power delivery architectures, including DC-DC converters, switching regulators, and power distribution networks (PDNs).
  • Ensure power supply designs meet performance, thermal, and cost targets for advanced hardware systems.
  • Perform detailed power simulations, including load regulation, transient response, efficiency, and thermal performance using tools like HyperLynx, Ansys, SPICE, PLECS, or MATLAB.
  • Analyze power integrity (PI) and optimize designs for stability and minimal electromagnetic interference (EMI).
  • Select power components such as power MOSFETs, inductors, capacitors, and controllers based on system requirements and performance goals.
  • Work with suppliers to source and evaluate new power components for improved efficiency and reliability.
  • Build, test, and validate power delivery systems on prototypes, using lab equipment like oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and thermal cameras to ensure they meet design specifications.
  • Diagnose and resolve power-related issues during design, testing, and production phases, addressing failures such as over-temperature, EMI, and voltage regulation faults.
  • Create and maintain power design documentation, including guidelines, specifications, and test protocols.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in power design, power electronics, or power systems engineering, with a focus on high-performance hardware products.
  • Experience with PCB design and layout
  • Understanding of power conversion topologies, including DC-DC converters, switching regulators, and power supply design for high-current, high-power applications.
  • Proficiency with simulation tools like SPICE, PLECS, LTspice, or MATLAB for power system modeling and analysis.
  • Experience with designing, prototyping, and testing power delivery systems, including power supplies, voltage regulators, and power distribution networks.
  • Familiarity with lab equipment like oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and thermal cameras for validating power designs.
  • Expertise in component selection, including power MOSFETs, inductors, capacitors, and controllers, ensuring compatibility with system requirements.
  • Understanding of power integrity (PI), electromagnetic interference (EMI), and thermal management in power systems.
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week {or other frequency dictated by their manager}.The selected candidate will be required to travel <25% for this role. This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
