What is a DC operator?

DC Operators, or Data Center Operators, are professionals responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and supporting the daily operations of data centers. They ensure that servers and network equipment are running smoothly, perform routine checks, troubleshoot hardware or software issues, and may assist with installations or upgrades. Their work is crucial for the uptime and security of IT infrastructure, supporting the continuous operation of critical business applications and services.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a DC operator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a DC Operator, you need knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), barcode scanners, and forklift operation certification is commonly required. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and teamwork help ensure efficient and accurate order fulfillment. These skills and qualifications are essential for maintaining smooth distribution center operations and meeting delivery deadlines.

What are some common challenges a DC operator faces when managing warehouse inventory, and how can they be addressed?

DC Operators often encounter challenges such as maintaining accurate inventory records, dealing with high volumes of inbound and outbound shipments, and ensuring timely order fulfillment. These challenges can be addressed by staying organized, effectively using warehouse management systems, and communicating clearly with team members and supervisors. Regular training and adherence to safety protocols also help minimize errors and improve efficiency in daily operations.

What is the difference between Dc Operator vs Electrician?

Job description

About magniX: Based in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, magniX builds solutions for the electric age, applying its aerospace-grade batteries, power electronics, power distribution, electric engines, and software to mission-critical applications across data centers, energy storage, defense, mobility, space, and aerospace. Built on an 800-volt architecture, magniX technology delivers industry-leading energy density, cycle life, and safety, and magniX electric engines have powered more than 200 flights across six different airframes, where the company remains the industry leader. As magniX extends its aerospace-grade standards into new markets, we are building a commercial organization to match, and are now ready to take our technology and products to market. Be part of a passionate team that is ushering in the electric age.
About the role: magniX is building a small, cross-functional team to develop a new 800V battery-based power supply and backup system for datacenter compute racks, drawing on the company's deep bench of electric propulsion battery and power electronics expertise. The Power Electronics Engineer will lead the design of a bidirectional power converter and charger, operating at the core of the system's power path between the 800V battery pack, the grid or facility AC input, and the datacenter rack DC bus.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design of a new bidirectional AC/DC and DC/DC power converter suitable for stationary, continuous-duty datacenter operation.
  • Define power stage architecture, semiconductor selection (SiC/GaN), and switching strategy for 800V-class operation at datacenter power levels.
  • Develop control loops for battery charging, rack-bus voltage regulation, and grid-interactive or UPS-style operating modes.
  • Own the electrical interface between the converter, the battery management system, and rack-level power distribution.
  • Support compliance activities against relevant standards (e.g., UL 1741, IEEE 1547, UL 9540) in partnership with the Systems Engineer.
  • Serve as the technical lead for the team's power electronics workstream, including design reviews and supplier/component sourcing decisions.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's in electrical engineering or related field
  • 7+ years in power electronics design.
  • Demonstrated experience taking a high-voltage (600V+) power converter from concept through production, including topology selection and control implementation.
  • Experience with bidirectional converter topologies (charger/inverter combined function).
  • Familiarity with SiC or GaN power semiconductor devices and associated thermal/EMI design considerations.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in EV traction inverter design (particularly 800V platforms) or grid-tied/UPS inverter design for stationary storage.
  • Exposure to datacenter power standards or utility interconnection requirements.
  • Experience standing up a new power electronics product line from a clean-sheet or early-concept stage.

Location: Applicants must be willing and able to commute to magniX's location in Everett, Washington.
Compensation & Benefits
  • 100% company-paid premiums for medical, dental, and vision insurance (for employees & dependents).
  • 4 weeks paid vacation + 1-week annual end-of-year shutdown, sick time, and 11 paid holidays.
  • 401K retirement plan with industry leading 9.5% company contribution.
  • Company paid Life insurance, AD&D, Short-Term and Long-Term disability insurance
  • Catered lunches and quarterly company fun-day events!

Salary Range: $120k-$165k
