The hourly range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00 per Hour. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.

About the Role:
Heavy Diesel Mechanic
DBE/United Utility Services seeking a full-time Heavy Diesel Mechanic for Fort Pierce, FL. A minimum of 5 years of related experience is required.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Special consideration given to individuals with maintenance experience on directional drilling equipment.
  • Diagnosis, troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and diesel equipment.
  • Perform root-cause analysis to determine necessary corrective actions.
  • Must have the ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical schematic diagrams and technical repair manuals.
  • Conduct extensive equipment inspections and identify worn and damaged parts.
  • Verify equipment performance by conducting field tests.
  • Spec parts needed for repairs and order from suppliers. Fabrication of some parts may be required.
  • Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures.
  • Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
  • Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
  • Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to job sites located within the Southeast.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to various levels of employees and management.
  • Must be a self-starter who can work independently.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years mechanic experience, preferably in the construction industry
  • Must have extensive diagnostic and repair experience with trucks and heavy equipment, preferably including directional drills.
  • Must have own tools.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional long hours to support drill crew during critical pullbacks.
  • Willing to travel for 2-3 days at a time

  • Job Type - Full-time. Must be able to travel. Overnight travel will be required as projects are spread out. Clean Background, Drug Test (random), and MVR.
