Job description

Black Girl Joy is a Black woman led nonprofit dedicated to centering rest, wellness, and joy as a birthright for Black women. Through nature based gatherings, creative experiences, and community care, we create spaces where Black women can be seen, celebrated, and at ease.

We are seeking a Photographer and Videographer to help document our events, retreats, and gatherings in ways that feel warm, respectful, and true to our community.

This role is ideal for someone who:

Enjoys capturing real moments rather than staged perfection

Understands how to photograph Black women with care, dignity, and cultural awareness

Is comfortable working in community centered, wellness oriented spaces

What You Will Do

Photograph and occasionally film Black Girl Joy events, day retreats, and multi day retreats

Capture candid moments, group photos, and detail shots that reflect connection and joy

Share edited photos and video clips with the Black Girl Joy team for website, social media, and storytelling

Respect participant consent and emotional boundaries while documenting

What We Are Looking For

Experience with photography or videography (professional or hobbyist)

An eye for storytelling and composition

Comfort working in emotionally rich, sometimes quiet spaces

Respect for Black woman led leadership and consent based spaces

Time Commitment

Event based and flexible

Typically a few hours per event
