Hours: Monday-Friday Full Time (Hours will Vary, standard department hours 7:00am - 5:00pm)

Full Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of a physician and utilizing the nursing process provides perioperative nursing care at a professional level. Performs a variety of nursing procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative. Demonstrates clinical competency, nursing judgment, teaching skills, and a commitment to improving the quality of patient care. Independently performs general and unit-specific clinical skills. SIGNIFICANT DUTIES:
A. Patient Care
  1. Assess patients throughout perioperative period establishing appropriate documentation on nursing records.
  2. Start IVs and administer some medications ordered by physicians, instituting appropriate patient monitoring techniques.
  3. Prepare patients for procedures through explanation, patient positioning, preoperative surgical scrub and draping as needed.
  4. Provide post anesthesia/analgesia care to patients utilizing appropriate PACU standards.
  5. Provide emotional support as appropriate to perioperative patients and family.
  6. Know how to gather required instruments, supplies and equipment for procedures.
  7. Assisting physicians as needed.
  8. Know how to set up and maintain a sterile field.
  9. Other duties as assigned.
B. Administrative Responsibilities
  1. Maintain adequate records as directed.
  2. Maintain orderliness and cleanliness.
  3. Cooperate with all personnel in the proper conduct of the dept.
  4. Rotate within the department as required.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT:
  • Graduate of accredited school of Registered Nurse
  • Must be licensed by the state of Oregon to practice as an RN
  • ACLS training within one year of hire date.
  • Current BLS training.
